« on: April 21, 2017, 03:15:44 PM »

was wondering if anyone knows of any doll shows coming up where i can actually
go to. where i can see them up close and touch them to see how real they are.
i've heard some talk around different places of places such as in n.y. city at a convention
center or georgia or florida, etc. have any of you been to one and do they have several
vendors there and what months do they usually have them?
any help would be great..:)

since you are asking about doll shows in American states ... here is a link to a site that lists doll shows from all over the country

http://www.dollshowusa.com/

as for my personal experiences at doll shows ... yes Mio and I have been to a few ... most of them were not worth going to ... too many of them were little tiny shows stuck in a side room at some large venue
one exception to this was a doll show out in Salt Lake City, Utah ... it was a nice large (relatively speaking) show with lots of people and vendors ... I actually carried Mio around on my arm during the show, and even though I am an "older" guy that does not obviously look effeminate, both Mio and I were warmly welcomed at the show ... she graciously accepted all the very nice comments about how pretty she was (and how large she is, she is on the tall side for a bjd, 65cm) ... all in all she and I had a very nice time at that doll show both times her and I attended

In USA? Normally the biggest one is in January usually at adult show.  There are smaller ones, but not worth the trip in my opinion.

Theodoric;  Thanks for the link, but http://www.dollshowusa.com/  seems to cater to collectables and teddy bears and they seem to be more geared towards a collector or children. Does anyone know; Is there any Adult themed doll shows in the US?

I suspect no; what would be the chance of getting some vendors to help sponsor and participate in such an event? I live close to Atlanta and would love to see something like that here. This would I believe be a good location for such an event!

if I remember correctly ... there sort of is one or two "adult" doll shows in the US ... but they are not listed as such ... they are porn industry shows, that sometimes have displays by various adult doll makers
I seem to remember the initials "AVN" for one of the shows that I think took place in Las Vegas ... I did a bit of googling and this is what I found about that show ... it does still exist
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AVN_Adult_Entertainment_Expo
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/avn-adult-entertainment-expo-january-24-27-2018-tickets-31765663956
... and I seem to remember hearing about a big porn industry show that takes place in I think Los Angeles each year ... as to whether there are always adult doll vendor displays there every year, that I don't know

after I thought about it ... it occurred to me ... if someone were to contact the US doll makers ... the doll makers could tell you what shows, if any, they attend each year

LOL ... yeah you are right ... the link I posted is for collectible dolls, and frequently teddy bears as well ... hehehe it's a shame you will probably never ever see a Teddy Babe at one of those shows.
I tend to think in those terms because Mio IS considered a "collectible" doll ... and I think the main reason her and I have been welcomed at those type shows is that I do NOT run around the shows bragging about the type of relationship her and I have ... as I have made the comment before ... I do not go out of my way to rub this lifestyle in the faces of the mundanes.
At one show Mio and I attended ... there was one male vendor who was there, who made an interesting comment to me ... he made the comment that the way I was carrying her made it look like she was my girlfriend ... he did not say it in a tone of voice like he was trashing me, he said it in a very polite way ... so I replied in the same polite tone of voice, that she was a better girlfriend than any of the human ones I'd ever had ... he paused for a couple of seconds, then said he understood.   I thought that little exchange spoke volumes, not only about Mio and I, but about the whole idea of non-effeminate looking guys having dolls of any type.

this was added later
I remembered something ... that was kind of curious ... because it was an American "adult" doll maker, that had at least one of his dolls, at a show that you would not have expected to see one at
it was PIB ... some years back I was talking with PIB (I was suggesting a type of doll that he was possibly interested in making, but both here in ODC, and TDF, HATE the idea of that type of doll so they make sure to bury any threads talking about that so deeply that NO ONE can find them to add comments) ... during the conversations I was having with PIB, he mentioned to me that he had taken one of his elf-eared dolls to a NekoCon ... yeah, an anime/manga con ... and if I remember correctly he had said that his doll was well received by the Con attendees ... that I remember he had the doll dressed appropriately for that event ... he was not rubbing the adult doll lifestyle in the faces of the mundanes
I do not know if he ever attended one of the NekoCons ever again with one of his dolls ... but it did show that adult dolls could be accepted at events where you might not normally expect to find them ... like at an anime/manga Con, or a sci-fi Con (maybe dressed like a Star Trek or Star Wars character)
So contacting the various US doll makers might be the best way to answer the question asked by kiterider
