Don't know what to tell ya MT.  We haven't changed anything.

Ok Euch.
Weird thing was that the "flash" tags did not happen to work for me, still weird though putting the word "url" in the tags made  them work.
As Noq said putting a link works also.

Folks I found and installed a MUCH better option for this.  I found a mod that allows you to just copy and paste the video link to your post.  That's it.  No tagging stuff needed or changing anything around.

There are alot of sites supported by this so I will list the supported sites soon.  For now Youtube is working.

Have fun and you're welcome :D

Recently, some of us have been hosting our video's on Vimeo.com which is a good site.

Getting their video to embed as a viewable object here, and not just a hyperlink is a slightly tricky thing.

Here is what you need to do.

Go to the page of the video you want, and load it up.  For this demonstration we will use http: // vimeo.com / 18772776

Once the page has loaded, you can place your mouse over the video window, and it will give you the video control options along the bottom, and three options along the right hand side of the video window. You want to click on the one that says "EMBED". It has a </> looking logo.

Now that you have clicked the Embed button, a new window will pop up, and you will want to click on the part that says "old embed code" this is important because the new embed code will not work for ODC.

Now, copy that block of text and paste it into your reply window. It will look something like this:

<'object width="400" height="225"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="movie" value="http: // vimeo.com/ moogaloop.swf?clip_id=18772776&amp;server=vimeo.com&amp;show_title=1&amp;show_byline=1&amp;show_portrait=1&amp;color=00ADEF&amp;fullscreen=1&amp;autoplay=0&amp;loop=0" /><embed src="http: // vimeo.com / moogaloop.swf?clip_id=18772776&amp;server=vimeo.com&amp;show_title=1&amp;show_byline=1&amp;show_portrait=1&amp;color=00ADEF&amp;fullscreen=1&amp;autoplay=0&amp;loop=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="400" height="225"></embed></object><p><a href="http: // vimeo.com/18772776">Alektra Blue for Our Doll Community</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/user5733511">belshanar</a> on <a href="http://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a'>.</p/>

In all of that code, only a little bit of it is useful. There are two things you need to note:

object width="400" height="225"

'http: // vimeo.com / moogaloop.swf?clip_id=18772776'

Now you can combine them with the flash tag button in your reply options.  ['flash=200,200][/flash']

Replace the 200,200 with whatever your height and width values are, in this case 400,225 and in the space between the ][ post the url to your video, in this case http: // vimeo.com / moogaloop.swf?clip_id=18772776

When it is all done, it should look something like this, but without the ' ' marks or extra spaces :

['flash=400,225]http: // vimeo.com / moogaloop.swf?clip_id=18772776[/flash']

If it all worked properly you should have a nice video window when you click preview:

<a href="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=18772776" target="_blank" class="new_win">http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=18772776</a>

Or, since Vimeo.com just got activated in the forum software, you can just copy and paste the URL for the video and it will work just fine.

Thanks Euch!

1. After uploading your video to DailyMotion, click on the Export icon (within the video frame) and then select Embed.
2. Within the Embed window, look for your Source URL.  Example: src="http://www.dailymotion.com/embed/video/test"  You will need the information contained in double quotes.
3. Copy and paste that source URL information into your ODC post.  Example: http://www.dailymotion.com/embed/video/test
4. Replace the embed word with swf.  http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/video/test
5. Highlight your URL (from step 4) then click on the Post menu Insert Flash icon.  Your link should look something like this, minus the single quotes:

['flash=200,200]http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/video/test[/flash']

6. Change your flash width and height numbers to your liking.  Samples... flash=400,225  or  flash=320,184
7. Preview your post, adjust as necessary, then post your video.
**Also consider some members do prefer simple URL links to videos.

Thanks to Simon DC for the above info.

OK, so here is the question for you site managers and tech types.

Is it possible to post any kind of video file (approx 30MB) from ones computer to this ODC site? Couple of formats I am thinking of are .flv or .mov
I cannot see a way via the gallery or in the posting submission form but then I am not tech, just a button pusher.
I note attachments to posts can be doc, gif, jpg, mpg, pdf, png, txt, zip for file sizes upto 150,000 KB which is 146MB so file size does not seem to be a problem.

Can anyone advise?

I'm not a computer type tech guy, but as far as I understand, I dont think you can directly post a vid from your computer.
"Leaving it to the imagination" is highly overrated.

Muzza, we did have the gallery set up to accept videos.  It caused problems with the forum slowing down & the gallery crashing, so it was disabled.

What I think we need is another site that is set aside for videos that is easily linked to.

Hi All,

I do not know what I did wrong over a year ago, though today I have applied Euchre's instructions on the Scoonimdoll picture video and it works perfect.
Thank you.

As I am computer illiterate(by choice) I really appreciate the info. Not saying I'm going to figure it out but if I can't I'll be in touch.
