Hey there!  I received a picture today of my new Solana as she was ready to ship.  Supposed to have her next Friday, 1/29.  They sent me a picture of the finished product, and she looks amazing.  But in the picture she does not look nearly as dark skinned as I had hoped.  I told them I wanted darker than tan, a Latina look.  I even used another toffee flavored doll color as a reference.  Abyss says it was the bright lights and flash on the camera.  I will be posting the pic here momentarily.  Was wondering if some of you high end camera people could weigh in on the picture, and the apparent lightness of the skin.

Well crap.  I tried  like 10 times to post a picture.  Anyone know what's going on?

Well it shows up now OK

Photos cannot always capture true doll skin colors, all depends on the lighting.
See what you think once she arrives, you may be  happily surprised

White balance is a tricky thing. The lighting can make a picture warmer more yellow or red, or colder bluer. Also the camera has trouble telling the difference between light and dark.  It wants to make everything neutral.

In that picture the camera is over compensating for the bright lights behind her, and the flash wiped the color out.

Of course this is a educated guess, but she could be medium for all I know. I would have to see her compared to other skin tones  :-X

Still I would love to have her. Beautiful doll  :thumb:

Thanks incred.  Seems everyone else isn't commenting because I considered selling the new doll.  I had a hot 23 year old staying with me who wasn't ok with it... so shoot me.  I might eventually leave dolls, I might not.  I'm trying hard to find a girl who is cool with it.  But hey, I'm having a lot of fun, and trying to help guys here have more success in real relationships.  I'm a valuable member of this site.

Just as an example KT. CJ and Nati are both a tan skin tone. You would not know it by this picture.

In this pic it is more apparent that the skin tone is darker.

I know I'm being Captain Obvious here but don't go calling the cops yet about the skin tone from one picture is all I'm sayin.

And by the way . Your Solana  is beautiful! :thumb:

Thanks Smoke.  It's so hard not to be nervous about an investment like this.  The pic just looks so oooo much lighter than what I had in mind, and Boy Toy was kinda... take it or leave it on the doll after it was poured.

It's very difficult to say. "Dark" is subjective.

I don't really see anything in the Abyss photo which should cause distortion. "Overly bright" either due to lights, flash, or editing, usually results in a washed out effect where details and negative space appear. This doesn't appear to be the case in the Abyss photo.

As Smoke pointed out the photo is not color corrected, hence there's cyan due to the florescent lights.

Congrats, sweetie!!

Can't wait to see more of her!
We have a BT4 housemate named Domonique, but she is light skin tone.  I'd say yours is likely darker - hard to tell with all the fluorescent lighting in that building.

Here are some Mo pix: http://www.dollalbum.com/dollgallery/thumbnails.php?album=7285

Xoxoxo,
Sheeana

(Ps - sorry about the gas!)

getting the color "right" is difficult, even if they have samples on their website different monitors display differently. When I ordered Sharon I just sent photos so they could match. Also Abyss tends to think skin tones are lighter than they are in real life. Sharon is modeled after a Korean woman, yet when it came to casting her they used their tanned skin tone, which is noticeably darker than what they call "Asian".
Heaven help me, I have been dating a real human female.
.........And enjoying it!
