Body / head combinations
« on: January 28, 2017, 09:47:16 AM »
Some manufacturers have suggested heads for each body type.
Are AD's like that as well?

For instance, could one put the Elena head on Body 4?

The other thing I can't understand is that Body 4 seems to stand 159cm (that's 5'2" for you kids in the U.S.) but only weighs 57 lbs.
That's incredible as the WM 140 that I have now weighs in at around 54lbs!
That is some beautifully done weight reduction! :thumb:

Doc Brown,

If the same size head is used on different sized bodies, it may look disproportionate on some. Granted, most of a body height is in the length of the legs. The head should be proportionate to the torso. I am not sure if a comparative survey has ever been done for Anatomical Doll head and body combinations.

incred brought a scale to Dollstock one year. Feodora is an Amazon compared to other dolls, but she weighed in lighter than the RealDolls. It has to do with the size of the core materials and the amount of silicone rubber is used. Think about how much a car tire weighs, even off the rim. A silicone doll has much more material than one tire.

Anatomical Dolls are all fairly large, as far as I know, so I do not think there would be a problem with any head on any body.

As I understand it, TPE dolls are heavy for their size because they do not have low density foam cores. Therefore, silicone dolls are, size for size, less heavy than TPE dolls. Furthermore,  Anatomical Dolls are made differently from other silicone dolls and they seem to be a bit less heavy than similar size silicone dolls by other manufacturers.

An example body 4 doll is my Faina:
Faina (Anatomical Doll body 4, Aurora head)

Body 3, which I think is no longer made, is a lot less heavy than most 'high-end' silicone dolls, especially considering its large size, but it is not as soft as some. An example body 3 is my Anoushka:
Anoushka (Anatomical Doll body 3, Elena head)
