Wearable silicone baby bump review
« on: November 29, 2017, 08:35:58 AM »
Hello peeps:)

A short while in chat we were discussing among other things, baby bumps.
Baby Ammie's new lovely new lady has a baby bump:

and Sandy has worn a home made prosthetic one (made of fabric and filler) under her clothes for a few pics.

That evening in chat, I expressed a long wish to have something for Sandy that is more realistic looking and feeling for nude shots, cuddling etc. than her fabric one.
Thanks to a search on ebay from Baby Ammie, I found one that ended up being better than expected. I spent some time pondering and researching what was there
and what other brands were available. And chose what I felt was the best design of three. (with the fewest and least imposing attachment straps)

Of the design I liked, one of the ebay photos showed a series of them in 5 different sizes and in two colours.

I liked the looks of the largest one as it lay on the table, but realized how small our dolls are, so I went with the middle size one (8-10 month)

Ordering was simple and shipping was fast ( just under a week from the order date )
They are a little pricey at $192.00 + $50.00 shipping, but I've done much worse.

One week later and:

I was impressed with the overall quality of the baby bump.
First impression is its weight, at a meaty 10 lbs. Second was its size. Being a mid sized one it has the nice full look I was after for Sandy.
There is really no aroma to speak of that I could notice.
The colour was not a perfect match but better than I expected considering it comes in only two colours. The camera sees a bigger difference in shade than the eye does.
The feel is firmer than I expected, but not a disappointment. The firmness is a bit softer than Sandy's current feel.
The band with Velcro tabs is fairly thick at 3/16" but necessary for strength. The overlap in the back is a bit cumbersome looking but that's only at the back.
Considering how thick the band is, it offers less imposition on the overall appearance on a doll than I expected. With only a minimal amount of photo editing needed to blend.

Overall I'm pleased with this item and will definitely use it for future photosets!

Ceej,

I can see a lot of fun pictures in the future! The ever-adventurous Sandy never disappoints when it comes to humor.

Well not my cup of tea, prefer trying to make baby bumps instead...but as usual Sandy will carry it off .
The only trouble i can see is that this will involve baby paraphernalia of all sorts ..buggy's ,nappy's loads and loads of baby clothes etc.
Then there's the inevitable pregnent womens urges to eat and taste things like coal...(honest ,my ex loved licking and the smell of coal when pregnant ,go figure  !)

So has Sandy had a scan yet, bet its triplets with a bump that size .

Thanks for all the comments everyone.. Wow! you guys have lots of ideas! And all I had were glamour shots in mind. Thoughts to think about for the future! :)

I'll add that its a nice prosthetic. My only complaint is when Sandy wears it and poses in profile, it has the wrong shape for a baby bump. I think it has more to do with the concave shape to Sandy's natural belly that the prosthetic is resting on, influencing the outer profile, than the shape of the prosthetic on its own. From most other angles however, It looks quite reasonable. For now the plan is to use the silicone baby bump for glamour/artistic style photos(nudes and semi nudes) keeping good angles in mind, and I still plan to use the home made one for clothed poses.

Dolly Dearest: Your right, extra things like this only expand the possibilities!

Begog, Baby Ammie:  Thanks guys :)

Noquiexis, Smoke, Mahtek:  Thanks guys, I don't know what yet, but I'm sure Sandy will have some fun photo ideas!

Incred: Its not very obvious in the pic, but looking close up, there is a tinny outie, but I have had thoughts of making it a bit more pronounced. Shhhhh, Sandy put one
of her add on nipples there for a joke. It looked so wrong. :P

Doc Brown:  Absolutely 100% not!  :D

HifiMan:  HA HA HA HA!!!    I better hope I am! :P

Ray Rentell:  OH OH!! that's a big list to load up on!   Errumm..coal? Wow I never would have thought.  I'll have to bring a lump home to see Sandy likes it too.
As far as a scan goes, we gave her a cat scan yesterday. But when we waved the housecat over her belly, all we got was a quiet "mewww"
