Public service announcement re: "Uloric" medication for gout.
« on: February 13, 2018, 07:54:03 PM »
Greetings, The prescription med "Uloric", generic name "Febuxostat" has been found to have been responsible for 60,000 cardiac fatalities and assorted strokes. I was taking Uloric for a number of years and wound up in hospital with ventricular tachycardia and subsequent heart failure.  I came as close as one can get to cashing in.  Fortunately, I have bounced back and things are looking good.  If anyone reading this is taking "Uloric" I strongly suggest stopping now, and managing gout another way. I am now taking tart cherry extract capsules and managing my diet.
Any way, long time no see.  I hope everyone is doing well.

Phil

WOW Glad your doing better, and welcome back.

I was looking at an old post of yours the other day and was wondering how you were doing since I hadn't seen you around.

Hope you can find a safe alternative treatment. The gout is not fun either.

Hey Incred,  Tart cherry extract capsules  is what I am taking for gout preventative, along with avoiding foods high in purines. No point waiting for an Attack.  The Uloric was a great preventative, Didn't have an attack for all the time I was taking it, then it almost killed me.  I can't be 100% certain of that, but given the warning from the FDA, it's a good bet.  I've dropped 35lbs, feeling great!

phillip57,

Welcome back! It is good that you caught this in time! Too many prescription medications advertised on television come with "serious, sometimes fatal events have occurred" listed in their 'side effects'.

I am on Allopurinol for my gout. Works great in preventing attacks.

Thanks Jeb, Allopurinol was not working for me, but I wasn't really following the dietary restriction for gout sufferers, I was counting on the Allopurinol to manage it for me.  The Uloric did great managing the gout, but nearly killed me.  I take tart cherry extract capsules now, don't eat red meat, don't drink alcohol, doing plenty of water.  I seem to be doing fine.
