The "Sixty Days of KingTut's Sinthetics" Project
« on: June 08, 2012, 09:26:58 PM »
Today marks the start of my "Sixty Days of Ashleigh and Sinthia KingTut's Sinthetics" project.  This is a challenge to myself to post sixty photo sets of my incredible Sinthetics dolls over a period of sixty days.  This challenge is similar to the "take a picture every day for a year" concept.

So, beginning with the next post, I will be contributing a photo set including Ashleigh and/or Sinthia (EDIT: or Bailey or Miranda) for the next sixty days.  I'll be the first to admit that it is an ambitious goal, but it's one I believe I can achieve.  Posing and photographing dolls is something I greatly enjoy.  And now that I have a silicone princess to work with, I have so many things I want to try with her.  So this is not a "working" challenge, but an exercise in creativity and a challenge to keep the creative juices flowing.

In addition to Ash and Sin, it's very likely you will see Rose, Jasmine, the small dolls and, of course, the Pyramid Felines.  There will be a lot of indoor as well as outdoor shoots -- a few of which will use the "guerilla shoot" approach taken by Matt and Bronwen.

What follows are photo stories, photo essays and fashion shoots.  Some will be everyday events, some will be funny, some will be very clinical.  Don't expect the same type of shoot every day -- this is a chance to stretch my wings, so change will be a constant.

For the most part, the stories will be in character -- I won't comment on the photography, techniques or fashions here.  I will be annotating the photos in my gallery, though, and you will find a wealth of information about the shoots, locations, clothes, lighting and mistakes there.

So, without any further ado, I present "Sixty Days of Ashleigh and Sinthia KingTut's Sinthetics".

DAY 1: HOMECOMING

This is it!  Today is the day.  The day that Ashleigh and Sinthia arrive to come live with me here at the Pyramid.

There's a soft knock at the door...

Hello!  Are you KingTut?

Yes!  Ashleigh, it is so wonderful to finally meet you in person.

And... this is the Pyramid?  I was expecting something in more of a stone and torches motif.

It's more of an honorary title.  But whether or not it is an actual pyramid, it is my home -- and now it's yours too!

It's lovely!  Do we really get to live here?

Absolutely!  Looks Ashleigh up and down.  Do you honestly believe I could turn you away?

Oh! Where is Sinthia?

She's taking care of the taxi driver.  She's not the type to knock if she has an invitation -- she'll be bursting in here any second now.

You really are beautiful.  And that is a great outfit!

(Blushing)  I don't know what to say.  Thank you!

Oh wow -- who is she?

Ashleigh walks over to a bookshelf and picks up a female action figure.

Is she a doll?

Yes.  She's called "Black Angel".  She was very hard to find.  I found her in a shop in Japan -- as far as I know, she's the last retail doll of her kind.

She's very pretty.  And her outfit -- is that aligator skin?

It's meant to look that way, but it's vinyl.  That outfit is part of the reason I worked so hard to find her -- I've not seen another doll outfit like it.

Are these knives she has?  She looks like some kind of fighter or assassin.  I don't think I've ever seen a doll like this before.

Do you like her?

Yes!  I do!  Do you have others?

(Embarrassed) Um... yeah... About 130 more...

The front door opens and then almost slams closed.

Ashleigh flops into the nearby leather chair.

There's Sinthia.  I'm gonna take a load off.

Hey Tut!  This is a great place!

Thank you.  Sinthia, you are GORGEOUS!  And what a fun outfit!

Wow, now that's a welcome!  This is just something I threw together for the road.  It's been a wild ride getting here.

(To herself, but just loud enough to hear) She gets "gorgeous", I get "beautiful"...  I can live with that.

Hey, that is cool!

Sinthia walks over to a large print of a tiger.

Tut!  Take my picture next to this big guy!

Yep.  We are definitely home.

Ashleigh smiles.

Spectacular Shoot!!!
"Leaving it to the imagination" is highly overrated.

Sandy is a B6 F1 Realdoll. In addition she has several F1 expression faces as well as standard F10 and f11 faces. She also has several sets of reuseable "Real Breast" prosthetic breasts.

Wow!

They are so beautiful it is stunning. To see your 2Ds come to life has been a pleasure. I was particularly awakened by the soft appearance of the arms in Asleigh's photo when she was holding the small doll. You must be a very happy man. Awesome-looking house, by the way.

Thanks guys.  I'm still learning how to pose these gals, but honestly, they are so cooperative.  There are a few errors here that I'll point out in the Gallery comments later this weekend (backlight without a compensating fill, wigs too far back, etc.) and I'm having a bit of trouble getting life into Sinthia in this set.  But that's nitpicking.  I'm glad you are all enjoying them!  I'm having a blast doing this.

Thanks, Matt -- that means an awful lot to me.  And as you can see, I finally did get her out of the box.  :D

I'm speechless too, KT : For a first photo session you set the bar high...

You're going to stimulate and boost our creativity, and I'll praise you for that. No offense to anyone, but pics of the girls lying on their bed is a bit boring in the end, and you prove such manikins can be used for artistic projects in a very efficient way.

I'm looking forward to discover your next shots and to talk with you on the chat...

Ha, new you would have fun  with your new arrivals..... :)

Absolutely wonderful first set and a story line too.

Ashleigh is so endearing with a soft personality whereas I think Sinthia is going to lead you firmly by the nose.
Two differing great characters you have pulled out

You have set your self quite an objective and the way its started looks like where in for a lot of stunning photo sessions.

There can be absolutely no doubt that Sinthetics exist and have definately arrived in force on the doll scene.

Congratiulations KingTutt and and course all the crew at Sinthetics

Great idea, Tut... just don't burn yourself out.   :o

I love this casual - POV style of shooting pictures. The angles replicate the way you'd experience the Manikins in person, interacting with them, giving you an even greater appreciation for their realism. And their realism is second only to nature. I dare say that the girls have so many lifelike qualities, and bestowed upon them with such a masterful hand that they're realer than real.  :P

The 2D body is perfect. I can't imagine what those supple curves must feel like.  :-\

I can't wait to see more!
