If it is an RD2 then it would be a platinum silicone doll. Also it would probably be hard as a rock

Also the RD2 faces would have magnets not Velcro.

Now the tricky part is some RD number dolls/faces are platinum. That I can't help you with, unless you have the RD doll sequence number. Also dolls after a certain date, around late 2009, would be platinum.

Other than that I don't know how you could tell them apart.

The only other way is if you had a Platinum repair kit. Mixing some up and put it on the silicone. If it cures it is platinum.

Sorry, yes I forgot that 2's are magnets, have not played with my RD2 for a very very long time !
Just going through and trying to sort all the old velcro fixed faces as they no longer fit the later magnet skull.
The earliest are ones from 2002 so I know they are tin but I have acquired more faces over the years.

So to cut to the chase , plat will not stick to tin so thats the way to test them ,thanks for the info.

Im debating whether its worth sticking magnets to these older faces or not or just to out them , time will tell.

Again thanks for the reply. :thumb:

I'm going to post this question over at the RD Forums. See what the experts come back with. I've never seen tin cured silicone, but they always look to me as if they have shiny. oily texture where as the plat silicone does not. That could be the extra coating RD puts on their dolls. My MD is a plat doll and she has always been very oily.
