I realise you have had to do a lot of repairs Everhard but ,and I qoute; "failure rate of slightly less than 50 percent" is totaly unacceptable.

I can understand the detiriation of the tin silicone, there is nothing that can be done about that, but mechanical failures should of been solved years ago!
Even with all the feedback the issue is still ignored by RD, they can make a bendy spine but not bullet proof hip joints , theres research and development for you.
Well I shall never do anymore R&D for them on my part, its to expensive to my own pocket!
The perenial retort of "Mishandling by the owner" just does not work anymore , look at the repair and maintainance thread here at ODC.
And we are only the smallest tip of the iceberg recording these failures.
Rather like other consumer goods be it cars or washing machines , theres even more money to be made in supply of replacement parts and repair kits!

Theres not enough feed back from the other manufacterers of dolls to gauge their durability, even so I do not recall any major breakages from other companys dolls.
If anyone knows better let us all know...... :)

Turned purple with anger, Rant over until the next RD breakage. >:(

I would be interested with which camera and lens do you work.

And back to a nicer subject.
Bluemouse, my camera is second hand of Ebay, it is a Fujifilm FinePix S7000, a 2003 model
Fixed lense digital SLR rated at a massive 6 megapixel , but as some ladies say, "its not the size that matters, its what you do with it "

I would love a current top of the range camera with all the lenses but at this time they are way beyond my pocket plus far to complicated.
To be honest I miss my old film Olympus OM2 camera, light , easy to use with only three parameters, shutter speed, aperture and film speed, easy.

Lets see what google makes of this.

cheers Ray. ;)

Thanks for the info, ray.
You've right about equipment and how to use it. Cameras as even women  ;D
I have the problem, that I photograph the last years only landscapes - with my nikon D5000 and Nikkor 35-200.
This saves space on the motorbike, and in low light conditions, most recently in Scotland, I have no time for changing lenses.
But the Nikkor isn't sharp enough for pictures in near range or portraits.
So I'm looking for a second Objectiv.

The little stupid google translator has worked well - but reading the posts is no problem for me  :D

1B or not 2D. That is the question.
I think so I am... wrong here!

Sorry to hear of your breakage with Elise Ray,
It came as a surprise, her being of the new generation of platinum dolls.
It is my understanding members have come up with a perfectly good hip design (mechwizard and incred) so I don't know why it has not been adopted by Abyss.
I think all sorts of problems still exist with dolls but they are not discussed as much these days on the forums through fear of being ostracised or sidelined (as I have discovered so I will keep my trap shut from now on).
I hope your repair goes well.

Cheers

Ah Love, could thou and I with fate conspire to grasp this sorry state of things entire. Would not we shatter it to bits, and then, remould it nearer to the hearts desire.

@Muzza Hi
What happened to you and and other member of ODC ( problem to leg doll  ) , is not only two cases RARE  , but  many cases happened already before you and this member of ODC , and identical problem also same right Leg ( casually ??), so maybe is better this people speaking with forum and not only with potential customer as me !
I am one who investigated, and we'll think '10 times before buying a doll, but many are not like me, then you'd better speak with those who have problems dolls purchased
