Hey guys take a look at this new robot tecnology!
Their moves will be softer a near to human moves.
I see big potential here

A very interesting find Gilda, thank you.
Watched all the vids, an amazing piece of work, one of the good things was the demonstrations to children.
You could see by their expressions that they where completely captivated.
The future is in safe hands when youngsters are involved, the new scientists and engineers, great stuff.

Robot tech has a lot to offer the world of Polymerisians.  Even just a few simple tasks would be really nice.  Like your doll walking to you (instead of having to carry your doll everywhere), looking at you when you're talking, and of course some basic play time movements.

It may be just a decade or so down the road for some of these basic capabilities.  Let's hope.

seeing the "money raised" graphic very prominently displayed on the page .......... it brings to mind the snake-oil scams "Roxxxy" and "Valerie" ...  ::)

very slick advertising ... looking for money to complete the project ... and always an endless list of "very minor technical difficulties" that keep it from living up to all the project hype, that just need "a bit more funding to over come"  ::)

so far ... the ONLY serious viable robotics projects I have seen (other than military projects, drones, etc.) are all in Japan ... AIST's  HRP-4C "Miim" ... and the predecessor bot they made before her (I dont remember what the designation for that one was) ... I remember some work being done by San Rio, though if I remember correctly that was closer to Disney style "animatronics" than true robotics ... and I seem to remember another project done over there that I have not seen anything on in a couple of years or more, so I can guess that project ended for some reason or another

@Theodoric,

I don't believe in a scam because it's an university's project ( Artificial Intelligence Lab of Zuric University).
A research project like this really needs funds and some universities don't spend their money with this kind of research.

Also that's how kickstarter programs work, some game developers are using a kickstarter rather than selling themselves to a publisher, since it allows them to maintain control of their IP and product.

Some interesting news about "cloud computing for robots"...
http://gawker.com/5989803/scientists-have-built-an-internet-for-robots
Video about that: http://youtu.be/4-ir1ieqKyc

Accidentally i found interesting video about amasing animatronics and sculptures, "The Thing" http://youtu.be/fBzpT7VmSaU

(That also reminds me about scifi styled "xxx" dream that i saw couple years ago...)

Interesting blog article about quantum robots...
http://blogs.scientificamerican.com/guest-blog/2013/03/17/i-quantum-robot/
Quantum mechanics is also related with consciousness http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_mind  ::) (Quantum mechanics also give interesting resolutions for time travel paradoxes...)

Hello,

Yah, but now physicists are connecting quantum mechanics with startling new ideas like strings and membranes, so there is a possibility that your brand new robot could dissolve into a parallel universe (or her mind could anyway).

Ciao

...and quantum mechanics in the brain...
http://sdsu-physics.org/NaturalScience100/Topics/3Mind/4artificial_intel.html
http://www.quantumconsciousness.org/presentations/microtubules.html
... and this is also related with precognition ... http://youtu.be/u4At15dPgas
(Maybe that was reason for my worst insomnia and "collapsive" anxiety between 2001-9-10 and 2001-9-11?...  :'( )

Maybe nearest possibility is make virtual AI characters (based on doll) for chatting.  :)
