This is my first post here, and while I perused the rules ahead of this, please forgive me if I am not 100% up to speed with community guidelines.

First off a little background: I am a bi-lingual American with full Japanese-proficiency and work as a senior manager in a large Japanese conglomerate (the only white employee out of 15,000+ haha).
I live in Akihabara, and one of my business sub-units is in TPE production for industrial molding and manufacturing.
I introduced a fellow who frequents a nearby Otaku bar to some of my team as he mentioned owning a "Real Doll" manufacturing plant and using TPE in production.

I helped broker a deal that cut nearly 7% off of his production overhead, and as one of the major doll makers, this is a savings of millions for their company.
He knew from our past conversations that I was a big fan of 2B from NieR: Automota, and very kindly made a custom, one of a kind doll resembling that character.

The thought was extremely kind, but my girlfriend would definitely not be comfortable having this gift around the house. I just got notice of them manufacturing it today, and it should be arriving in the next 2-3 weeks. Due to licensing issues, this is something they obviously cannot sale publicly, and it is something I obviously can't keep.

So here I am. I'm not sure if anyone here would be interested in the doll, or if there are any NieR: Automata fans lurking, but if so, I would be happy to take pictures once it arrives. I would like to get rid of it as quickly as possible and would sale it for a reasonable discount from MSRP + shipping.

Please let me know if interested, and especially if you are a major NieR fan like me who can appreciate the significance of the piece (it is made as close to spec to her known body stats, 168CM in boots and full handmade costume etc.)

Thank you.

Hello InTokyo ! Welcome to Our Doll Community (ODC...) !

I do know who Nier Automota is due to I also frequent a site called Sankaku Complex. Very much into anime
(Me and a few others here...). She is one sexy girl !   :)

Does this person who created her plan to do a line of TPE anime dolls ? This segment / market is greatly untapped.
Most of the manufacturers wether they make dolls out of silicone or TPE say this would be a "Niche" product and
very few would sell. I say there's a market for them.

It would help greatly if you do post pics of her when completed. You'll have to either put your pics in a pic hosting
website or ask for a gallery here. You cannot load pics directly from your hard drive here (Attachments...). It will
also help if you list specifics about her. How much does she weigh, cost for her and shipping, etc...

I can understand about not being able to offer her to the general public. I'm guessing her creator didn't secure
permission from the artist / person who came up with Neir. There's sooooo many anime girls out there already.
I could see how someone could "Accidently" copy someone's creation.

Hope to see pics of her soon and hope you do stay around here at ODC !

Take care! litlluvr with his dolls Yoshe, Amiko, Marla, and Michiko.

This is the hottie I wish someone could make (or close to it...). It's someone's
drawing of the character Shijou Takane from The Idolmaster.

There is an: Auction Block on this site.

Once you get the doll I suggest taking a few photos of her preferably naked so potential buyers can see that she's in good condition.  Also have a note next to the doll in the photos with your forum username and the date.  And of course any relevant info on the doll like: manufacturers name, material, body specs, weight, etc (as much as you can).  You can have a look at the link above in the auction block to see how others do it. :thumb:

Hello,

Many thanks for the good information. I was concerned about opening it once it arrived as that could concern the new owner regarding if it was new or not, but I suppose pictures would be a minimum requirement as you pointed out.

I'm not a specialist in this business, but my understanding is that he is currently designing a line of dolls that cater to anime/manga idols, characters, and their fans. I do not know the specific details of what they hope to launch with, but I understand he has major ties to both the anime/manga production companies and the Yakuza (which controls most of the adult video and hentai industry).
They are in the pre-production/proof of concept phase with the new product line and also doing research into sales demand both locally in Japan and abroad.
Sadly, most of these companies do not have English speakers, and the language barrier issue is a major hurdle to opening the business up to foreigners.

Additionally, as you wisely noted, licensing issues are a major liability. Anime characters in Otaku culture literally have brand image and unique personality quirks, etc. which differentiate them. It is hard to translate that in a flattering way to something physically fulfilling, because a large part of the appeal is supposed to be "she is just beyond reach" in most cases.
For copyright law that is an easy workaround. They could potentially get around it if they advertised as a "custom doll artisan/sculptor" and made each doll to spec as a custom order with customer's request demanding all specifics (the customer designed the doll, not the company,). In this example case they are not selling the character's likeness, but instead the work needed to make their product resemble whatever the customer requested. It's a fine line, but Japanese law would allow it.

Bleh -- anyways sorry to ramble. I'm happy to take pictures of it when it arrives (in case anyone has interest). Also, if there is some other specific character -- no promises -- I can try to ask him if he would be willing to have one made by custom request.

Thank you, I am very sorry as I am not familiar with this site.

None of that should be a problem. The company name could be a concern as the character is copyrighted, so this should be "strictly not for resale", but I would have to look into it.

From the mail I received, it is a 38kg full scale TPE replica with metal skeleton at 168cm (made to exact specifications of 2B from NieR) hand woven wig and hand stitched costume + boots.

Does this company have a website?  If so I'd be interested in taking a look.

I did buy a doll directly from Japan and the language barrier didn't put me off at all.  Admittedly it would have put a lot of people out of their comfort zone.

If you're selling her 'privately' I can't see a problem with the copyright stuff, after all its a one off and the sale isn't commercial sale.  Any potential buyer will want to know as many specifics as possible and anything which may be deemed too risky for public display can be sent privately to the potential buyer via private message.

That's a good point. I may be overly paranoid, but as it is tied to my career, better safe than sorry. I'd be comfortable with PM.
