Deceptive site ahead WARNING google chrome
« on: September 05, 2017, 06:47:36 AM »
Can anyone shed any light on this please:

I've noticed this warning pop up in google chrome browser lately and without actually blaming anyone I'm fairly certain this warning only pops up whenever opening a page the member 'grenouille' has posted on.  I'm assuming there is something in his signature that maybe triggering this pop up? ::)

Ok I found this in grenouilles signature:  http://www.mmopurge.com/forum/images/smilies/smilies1/Lil___Chicken_Smiley_by_Wyandotte.gif

I believe the chicken in his signature is responsible for the pop up... ::)

He needs to find another chicken, that one's got salmonella.  :police:

This isn't the first time linked smileys in chicken signatures have triggered virus check programs.  Maybe it would be better to download smileys into a gallery and link to them there in the signatures.

this is exactly the same problem I have had and mentioned it to admin.
a way round it if nothing can be done is to use an alternative like firefox which is what I have done.
but it would be nice to eliminate the problem somehow

Yep Firefox is one way around it Ray, but to be honest it shouldn't have to be that we are FORCED to use another browser just because someone's got a dodgy chicken in their signature... ???

I simply propose a mod/admin send a PM and kindly ask grenouille to remove ones dodgy chicken because its causing chrome users 'issues'.  Its not my job but if no one else does this in the next day or so I will politely ask him to remove his chicken.

Google Safe Browsing services have created this message in order to protect people from unsafe online content. This service scans websites and looks for deceptive buttons, for instance, download buttons that install software from unrelated and unreliable third-party sources. Deceptive site warning is basically designed to keep you away from web pages and content that can put your privacy at serious risk.

Visit an unsafe page

On your computer, open Chrome.
On the page where you see a warning, click Details.
Click Visit this unsafe site.
The page will load.

When you visit an unsafe site, Chrome will try to remove the unsafe content from the page.

To view the entire page:

On your computer, open Chrome.
On a deceptive site, to the right of the address bar, click Content blocked Content blocked.
In the alert, click Load full site.
The page will load.

Visiting a web page marked as unsafe is unwise at best. Doing so could be both costly and dangerous, given the rash of security breaches reported on the news. If you have a throw-away internet device and absolutely no online banking or credit/debit cards, then dive right in!
