Well I got scammed ... a warning post
« on: March 31, 2014, 01:46:19 PM »
Hello all! Long time reader, just started an account to try to share a warning...

I’m posting this here as a warning of a scam company..  Over a year ago I contacted Shin Takagi with Trottla  to order a doll and ended up sending almost 8K in a wire transfer to Mr Takagi!  For the first 10 months  Shin Takagi would respond infrequently to my  inquiries, with short 1 sentence responses, always with some kind of excuse about how he was feeling ill or how there was snow on the ground or that he was going to be busy for the entire month. My last email correspondence from him was at the beginning of December that my order was finished but he was just too busy to ship it and would ship in January. Since that time I’m emailed him a half dozen times,  his website has been updated frequently (sometimes twice a week) but he will not respond to any inquiries. I’ve tried emailing from multiple accounts (one on yahoo.jp since his site states that he has issues with email to overseas servers (even though his hosting company is located in the U.S.) .. so being sneaky, I created another email account and sent him an email pretending to be someone interested in buying a doll from him .. and amazingly he responded right away with information on models available and costs.. So this tells me that regrettably I have been ripped off.  If others had posted some negative reviews even in one or two boards I would have avoided him altogether while doing my pre-purchase research. I really should have gone with a Dollsweet instead.. BUT before sending him the cash he seemed reputable. Please avoid him at all costs!!!!

I have read numerous conversations about NOT posting pics of Trottla dolls and don’t want to get into the semantics of the uses of these dolls (I do know that 99% of the readers of these boards use other manufacturer’s dolls for “extracurricular” activity) but suffice it to say that there are normal surrogate uses that these dolls can fulfill for those who do not have children nor with the prospects of ever having them in the future .. that’s the only discussion point I will make on that topic. The purpose of this post is simply to stand as a beacon warning to others considering making a purchase that this company (or more specifically, Shin Takagi, an individual) is not a reputable seller and will rip you off.
This is one of the few places on the web that shows up on google searches that allows even the discussion of these dolls, so I am posting this in the hopes that it will help at least someone else avoid being scammed by this guy.

I know that a french guy (from French Dollforum) has an order with Trottla. I've PM him. Maybe you may share your experiences.

Thank you, I know there are at least a couple out there, but after his lack of response to my emails I have a few bad feeling about ever seeing anything coming from Japan :(

Hello, Serval asked me to answer you

I ordered my throttla one year ago, so you have at least one year to wait to have her and maybe much more

Trottla isn't a company, just an artist making kids dolls (not love doll)

I heard they are five or four japanese guy, not sure that the five/four make the dolls

A friend on our french forum met him at tokyo, He seems to be a nice guy, going to the train to take him, drinking a coffee at his working office, giving some gifts

Sorry to say that, (i understand you), but i don't bother him each month, never ask when she will be ready, he always answer my mails

What we can say that there are much more than one year to wait, better not order if it"s too long for you. Maybe he should say the waiting, but myselt i told him i don't  mind the wait

Here is he's little work office in japan
Japon〒192-0045 Tōkyō-to, Hachiōji-shi, Ōwadamachi, 6丁目14−7 Zip

i am on the french forum

Thank you very much for the quick response, wanted to just clear up, I have not pestered him with updates each month.. he has stopped responding to my emails once we hit the one year mark.. the last correspondence I got from him was beginning of December and he has ignored all of my follow up attempts to check on my order.. it has now been a year and three months ..

Also I received a PM accusing me of denigrating all Japanese manufacturers in my ripoff report .. I do not want to give that impression .. I have been to Japan many times and do not pretend to paint all people with one brush, so please do not take my posting as negative towards 4woods, or any doll manufacturer OTHER than Trottla

DollHead,
Don't lose hope, it's been almost TWO years since I ordered and paid for my doll from this vendor, I had pretty much written off that I'd been scammed by this guy .. when suddenly out of nowhere I got an email at the beginning of this week that he was ready to ship..  And FINALLY!! My doll did arrive this morning, all said I did get everything I ordered, the MBA-1108LS body and two heads, the LB1 & MJ3 head and a doll stand, which is probably most of the weight in the package.. every part came wrapped separately, the upper and lower dentures , the tongue, everything came in it's own wrapped package, he even included an extra bonus pair of blue eyes .. and the owners manual is pretty hilarious.. the warning label states "There is no model for Trottla's dolls. Although there may be a girl who resembles it somewhere in this big world, it is purely a coincidence, or someone's product of imagination." That being said ... over the past two years of waiting I'd written this off as a loss so am just not enamoured by this doll and am looking to sell her to anyone who might be interested.. Doll head, if you're looking to get one right away, then shoot me a P.M.

Manga are you still looking to sell the doll?
You know how I can get a doll no one wants or one for cheap?

No sorry, I could not find anyone to sell it to so eventually just destroyed it.. To be honest the dolls are horrible pieces of junk, one arm was broken right out of the box, after about a month the ears fell off the heads, there were massive air bubbles in the skin from the TPE curing incorrectly, and when I lifted one of the arms up the TPE resin just tore under the arm pit.. so I would say stay away from this vendor at all costs.. he had bad customer service skills and a bad bad bad product...  there are some owners on love-dolls-forum.com, it's a French language only site, but there are pics of some of the dolls in the factory which shows just how bad they look in real life. the manufacturer photoshops his products a good deal..

I too may have been scammed by Shin Takagi >:D I sent $8k to him Feb '14. I recently emailed him and said I was ill and would he refund the money. He actually agreed but that was 2 months ago. My latest was to say either refund or send the doll and I would find a customer. No reply. I wish there was a Japonese authority I could refer this to.  :police:

the wait for the dolls is over 2 years right now, I would absolutely push for the refund because you cannot sell it second hand.. he is notorious for not responding to emails for months at a time.. hopefully others will find these threads and avoid  buying from him in the future..   plus the doll looks completely inhuman.. like a cone head from SNL.. def push for the refund.
